TRANSPORT IN PRAGUE

Prague City Public Transport System (MHD): recommended, extensive, fast and safe. Yet, please beaware of pick-pocketing specially in the center and on crowded trams.

 

All participants will receive in their registration a Full City Transport Pass valid during their stay in the School.

Taxis: generally acceptable. However beaware of frequent overcharging on tourists. Agree on the price before taking the service. A taxi ride from the airport to Dejvice (School Venue) takes 20 min and should cost no more then 15 or 20 EUR. Same for taxi rides from the City Train Stations to Dejvice, Prague 6.  

Recommended is to call a taxi by phone (e.g., on reception). Recommended taxi companies (phone numbers):

·         City Taxi: 257 257 257

·         AAA Taxi: 14014 or 222 333 222

 

Transport to and from Strahov to Masarykova Hall (Dejvice) is suggested the Bus # 217. At the following hours:

  • Strahov à Dejvice: Mon-Fri:  8:05, 8:20 and 8:40 am                       (see timetable)
  • Dejvice à Strahov: Mon-Fri:  7:09, 7:26, 7:45, 8:08, 8:28, 8:48 pm         (see timetable)

Each way the bus ride takes about 25 minutes.

 

ARRIVAL & ACCOMODATION (STUDENT PARTICIPANTS):

On arrival to Strahov Campus (Strahov, Prague 6), please go first to Reception of BUILDING 1 (BLOK 1) where room registration is done and room keys will be distributed. This reception (in BLOK 1) is open 24 hours. Please provide your name and mention „Summer School“.

Then,  participants will be accomodated on BUILDING 8 (BLOK 8). See map.

 

ACCOMODATION (SPEAKERS):

Speakers are accomodated in the same building of the School Venue (Masarykova Hall, in Dejvice, Prague 6)

SCHOOL REGISTRATION

Please register during the two days (Sunday 8th and Monday 9th ) with Jiri Dammer (see 2nd Circular) .

SCHOOL FEE

Upon registration, please check/pay your School Fee also with Jiri Dammer (see 2nd Circular) .

SCHOOL OPENING

Please be on time to the School Opening: at 9 am on Monday 9th in Masarykova Hall. See map.

SCHOOL SOCIAL PROGRAM: BANQUET

The school Banquet will take place on Wednesday 11th at 6:30 pm in Masarykova Hall. All participants are invited.

 

PLENARY COURSES AND TALKS

Speakers are kindly asked to give their courses/talks and prepare the presentations in a clear and introductory and explanatory way.

This event is a Summer School, not a Conference or Workshop. The audience is very broad composed namely of Undergraduate and Graduate Students.

The time allocated for each presentation includes a 3 – 5 minute eventual discussion (questions).

Due to limitations in Time and Program and Audience Capacity, Speakers are kindly but strictly asked to observe their time space. During presentation, the speaker will be announced of his/her time limit (3-5 min before ending). No time extensions and/or delays will be allowed.

 

Speakers who do not finish their presentation during their scheduled time will be asked to stop. Their course/talk can continue later (during the break or after the day program session).

 

Program Session Chairs will be asked to observe and strictly enforce the time limit for all speakers and students.

 

Please deliver your presentation (electronic file) on time (at least one day before) to Vlastimil Kral (see 2nd Circular).

 

POSTERS

Poster Session will be during the Coffee Breaks on

·         Wednesday 11th from 15:30 to 16:00 h.

·         Thursday 12th from 16:00 to 16:30 h.

All exhibitors are asked to stand during these two periods by their Posters.

All participants are encouraged to attend these two Poster Sessions.

Recommended size is 75 or 80 cm (wide) and 100 cm (high).

Please deliver your poster to Tomas Slavicek (see 2nd Circular) during Tuesday 10th. On these day the Posters will be placed and will be exhibited (in the same School Hall) from Tuesday 10th thru Friday 13th.

 

BOARD (MEALS)

Participants will have their 3 daily meals starting from Monday 9th for all 8 School Days (Mon 9th thru Fri 13th and Mon 16th thru Wed 18th) as follows:

·         Breakfast (between 7 and 8 am) at Strahov Menza Building located within the area of Strahov Dormitory Campus.

·         Lunch and Dinner at in Masarykova Hall in Dejvice

PRESENTATIONS (COURSES AND STUDENT TALKS): CHARACTER RESOLUTION

Speakers are asked to use in their presentations large letter and large fonts as well as clear and large figures. The Lecture Hall is large for a large audience (about 100 people).

Please deliver the file for your presentation either:

  • before your arrival (by Friday 6th July) in electronic form attached by email to 4summerschool@utef.cvut.cz In the mail subject state “Talk presentation file”
  • upon registration to Vlastimil Kral (see 2nd Circular)

All presentations are expected and will be gradually made available to participants during the School (to be placed on the School Web Site).

PROCEEDINGS FILES: DELIVERY

Please deliver your files (see instructions) either

  • before your arrival (by Friday 6th July) in electronic form attached by email to 4summerschool@utef.cvut.cz In the mail subject state “Paper file”
  • or (at latest) during registration - upon your arrival in electronic form and one printed copy to to Vlastimil Kral (see 2nd Circular)

 

We ask students to deliver their papers as early as possible in order to have the papers reviewed by the corresponding Session Chairs during the School. Also to allow for eventual corrections/discussions to be done during the School.

 

WI-FI IN LECTURE HALL

Participants can have and use their portable laptops during the School. The School Lecture Hall will have Wi-Fi internet access during all the time of the School.

 

POST (MAILING) ADDRESS

Participants will be asked upon registration to provide their post mailing address (where their copy of the School Proceedings Book will be shipped.)

 

SAFETY & SECURITY

Participants are advised to watch their portable laptops carefully (bring a wire lock).  Unfortunately, theft of unattended laptops, cameras may occur. Also watch and secure your equipment during the School Lectures and during meals and all times.

 

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

Participants are expected to attend the entire School Program and will be entitled to a Certificate of Attendance (to be issued).
