Ing. Otokar Dragoun, DrSc. completed his studies of experimental nuclear physics at the Czech Technical University in Prague in 1962. Since then he is employed in the Nuclear Physics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic at Rez near Prague. He defended his PhD thesis in 1967 and the DSc thesis in 1985. During 1966-1969, he was a guest scientist at the Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg. In 1992 and 1994 years, he served for a short time as a visiting professor at the Technical University in Munich. Since 1972 to 1985 he was a head of the electron spectroscopy in the NPI AS CR at Rez near Prague and lectured irregularly at Prague universities. In 2001, he became one of the founding members of the Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino Experiment.

Otokar Dragoun specialized himself in precision electron spectroscopy of radioactive samples. Most of his scientific results refer to the investigation of the nuclear-atomic process of gamma-ray internal conversion. During last decade, he concentrated to the searches of massive neutrinos in beta-ray spectra and to the development of the energy standards for calibration and monitoring of the KATRIN experiment.

Otokar Dragoun supervised diploma and PhD thesis of several students from four countries.

Together with coauthors from 11 countries, he published more than 70 scientific papers. He was an invited lecturer in 12 international schools and conferences.
