Eiliv Steinnes is Professor in Environmental Science at NTNU, Trondheim, Norway. He was trained as a nuclear chemist and did his doctorate on the use of neutron activation analysis in geosciences. For the last 35 years he has been doing research in environmental chemistry, with emphasis on trace substances (metals, radionuclides, organic micropollutants), their sources and pathways in the environment and transfer to terrestrial and aquatic foodchains. He has published about 600 scientific papers and has given about 200 oral presentations at international conferences. He has received several scientific awards.
