Profile summary of Dr. Jan Wilkens

Jan Wilkens studied physics in Munich and Nottingham between 1995 and 2001. He joined the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in 2001, when he started his PhD thesis on biological optimization of proton therapy.

He was a research fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston in 2003. Jan Wilkens received his PhD in 2004 and continued to work at DKFZ in the field of radiotherapy with heavy charged particles.

In 2006, he spent six months at Washington University in St. Louis as a post doctoral research associate.
