CZELTA – základní přehled a popis technického vybavení
(Project CZELTA – basic overview and hardware)

information reported in coordinational meeting of the CZELTA project in Pardubice, April 4, 2007

The aim of the project is the fundamental research of high energy cosmic rays. Besides the scientific purpose, the project has also educational impact. Within the project, the network of detection stations of secondary cosmic rays showers is built. These stations are built mostly on the roofs of selected high schools in the Czech Republic. Similarly to other projects in the European Union, Canada and the United States, students of Czech high schools actively participate in this project - it contributes to improve and to make atractive their education of natural and technical sciences. The project started on summer 2004 with collaboration of University of Alberta (Canada), which realizes parallel project ALTA (NALTA).

On the roof of our building, we built the first station for the detection of high energy cosmic ray showers. The equipment consists of three scintilators placed on the roof with the electronic data aquisition system indoors.
