The superheated liquid as detector

Mala Das

Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics

Abstract: Superheated liquid plays an important role in different branches of Physics. The bubble nucleation in superheated liquid starts with the formation of critical sized vapour embryo with the emission of shock wave. The homogeneous bubble nucleation can be caused by the energy deposition by different energetic particles and thus serves as the particle detector for different applications. The application of superheated liquid in neutron, gamma ray, heavy ion detection as well as for the cold dark matter search will be discussed.
