Micropattern Gaseous Detectors in the IEAP

Abstrakt:
Micropattern Gaseous Detectors have been replacing the popular Multiwire Proportional Chambers in many High Energy Physics experiments. In the past few years other scientific communities became aware of their unique advantages that could combine large detection volumes - sometimes well above 1 m3 - and high counting rate capability with reasonable energy and position resolutions. The applications of MPGD cover a wide range from large area energy dispersive X-ray imaging, that can be used in the study of cultural and historical heritage to position sensitive neutron detection for neutron beam instrumentation and neutron beam analysis techniques, or Fundamental Science applications.
In this seminar I will describe some activities related to the study and development of MPGD in collaboration with other institutions and some of the activities that are under development and planned for the near future in the IEAP.
Seminář se koná ve čtvrtek 26. září ve 14:00
v zasedací místnosti ÚTEF ČVUT, Praha 1, Husova 240/5.
