The impact of stack artefacts on gated CT imaging and strategies for improvement

Abstract:
Stack artefacts are a common problem in cardiac CT and 4D radiotherapy imaging. In the worst case, these artefacts can prevent the radiologist from diagnosing the patient and potentially lead to rescans. Various strategies have been developed to address this challenge, such as pre- and post-processing software and hardware. This presentation will illustrate the cause of these artefacts, present methods to deal with them and in particular show a novel post-processing algorithm to reduce these artefacts.
