Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) - beam lines is an ambitious European project of one of the world's most powerful laser systems with experimental applications essential for solid state sciences, molecular biology and chemistry and basic research of ultra-intense electromagnetic fields. The project will be commissioned in 2015 in Dolní Břežany and is currently in an intense preparation phase. In this lecture we will focus on the concepts and descriptions of the experiments planned at ELI beamlines, such as intense and ultra-short X-ray pulse generation and biological imaging, new compact methods for particle acceleration and related medical applications and required detectors and detection techniques.
