Spin and structure of lightest nuclei: past and perspectives

Since middle of ’70-th polarized beams became available at the JINR Dubna in the Veksler-Baldin Laboratory of high energies (VBLHE). These beams extracted from the Synchrophasotron were used for various experiments, in particular for the study of the structure of the lightest nuclei. Results of this experimental program will be summarized. At the present time the Synchrophasotron has been replaced by the superconducting synchrotron Nuclotron accelerator. Also a new source of polarized ions should be ready within about of one year. A brief outline of new experiments at extracted beams of the Nuclotron, with focus on binary reactions with polarized deuterons, will be given.
