Collaboration Meeting NEMO/SuperNEMO
27.2.-1.3. 2012

The NEMO/SuperNEMO Collaboration and LSM Extension Meeting will be hosted by the Czech Technical University in Prague and organized by the Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics in the dates February 27 - March 1, 2012. The meeting will take place in the Masarykova College.

The NEMO 3 experiment (NEMO = Neutrino Ettore Majorana Observatory) is devoted to the search for neutrinoless double beta decay (a rare, lepton-number violating, nuclear decay process that would indicate the Majorana nature of neutrinos, as well as provide an estimate for the neutrino mass scale) and to the accurate measurement of two-neutrino double beta decay. The NEMO 3 detector was installed and running in the Fréjus Underground Laboratory (4800 m w.e.) in France. At present, the experiment has finished the data acquisition and the data from the experiment are analyzed.

SuperNEMO is the next generation experiment to search for neutrinoless double beta decay. It will house 100 kg of isotopes, ten times more than NEMO 3, thus reaching a neutrino mass sensitivity of about 50 meV. The SuperNEMO experiment is in the R&D phase.
