Listening to the universe by detection cosmic rays - visit of French and Czech students
3 Apr 2014

On the 3rd of April the institute had been visited by a group of students from High School of Economy and Computer Science DELTA (Pardubice, Czech Rep.) and Lyceé Emile Combé (Pons, France). This visit took place on a basis of COMENIUS project "Listening to the universe by detection cosmic rays". Students have tanken a look at the Van de Graaff accelerator laboratory where they attended a lecture on accelerators given by Dr. Michal Solar. Afterwards they visited the IEAP and attended another lecture given by Dr. Carlos Granja.

During their stay, another seminar took place, aimed at the cosmic ray detection experiment CZELTA and at the processing of the data coming out of the experiment. Students have familiarized themselves with the structure of recorded data and processing capabilities of MS Excel as well as special C# programmed tools. After previous explanation by IEAP staff members they have independently solved a few data processing tasks.
