Application of Nanotargets in ion acceleration and micro-fusion

Wenjun Ma

Peking University

Abstract: With the application of plasma mirror technique, the contrast of femtosecond high-power laser has been improved to better than 1012. Such high-contrast laser enables the shoot of targets made of nanomaterials, or, with sub-micrometer structures at ultrahigh intensity. Unprecedented laser absorption and particle acceleration mechanisms emerge when such novel targets were used. Here I will present our series study on the enhancement of acceleration of heavy ion using carbon nanotube targets, and recent experimental results using CD nanowire arrays as high temperature and high density plasma for micro-fusion.

Seminar takes place on Wednesday, October 23rd 2019 at 2:00 PM
in the IEAP meeting room, Praha 1, Husova 240/5.
