Seminar “Progressive detection methods in teaching subatomic and particle physics at primary and secondary schools 2019”

Nov. 29th, 2019 - Nov. 30th, 2019

On 29th and 30th of November 2019, a seminar organized for physics teachers at secondary and elementary schools was held at IEAP. This year we organized the seminar for the first time in the new IEAP building, which was very well received by the participants.

The aim of the seminar is to acquaint teachers coming from different schools of the Czech Republic with theory and measurement techniques using pixel detectors MX-10. After several hours of practical measurements, they are able to design and make measurements suitable for teaching themselves.

The program was supervised by Zdeněk Janout, Karel Smolek, Vladimir Vicha, Jitka Svobodova and Jan Koupil. Participants received a linked lecture on Radioactivity and a book “Experiments with a pixel detector for teaching nuclear and particle physics”, the costs of the seminar were covered by IEAP. After attending this two-day seminar, participants can borrow the EDUKIT MX-10 kit from IEAP for their schools.
