Benefits and challenges of HPD technology in imaging applications
Martin Peter Pichotka

Abstract:
Hybrid pixel detectors have been proven to be highly versatile tools, allowing for their utilization in a large range of research fields. Clinical and biomedical imaging applications are a field of particularly high societal impact, which could strongly profit from this groundbreaking technology.
The very distinct characteristics of HPDs allow to rethink medical and preclinical imaging, but also require substantial effort for efficient integration. In this talk we present such new approaches to (pre-) clinical imaging based on HPD technology, and challenges in their integration.
