About the educational activities of the Institute of Physics and Technology

Although the Institute does not have its own study program, it is active in the field of education. Last year, it focused on supervising the professional works of students from other faculties of the Czech Technical University and other universities in the Czech Republic and abroad.

In cooperation with SÚRO v.v.i., last year, testing of the project day – One Day with Radioactivity was carried out. These are workshops on working with CzechRad detectors for high school students as part of the IMPAKT project. A total of eight project days were held in Holice, Pardubice, Chrudim, Letohrad and Prague. We have also established cooperation with Science centers in the regions in order to expand the IMPAKT – CzechRad project in the Czech Republic. We also presented work with CzechRad detectors in workshops at the conference Fair of Ideas for Physics Teachers.

Our educational projects also went abroad. Three of our employees worked as lecturers in courses on operating pixel detectors of the Medipix type held as part of the IEEE NPSS RABAT EDUCOM International Summer School in Morocco. Representatives of the Institute of Physics Education gave a lecture and a workshop on working with pixel detectors at the WCPE 2024 – 4th World Conference on Physics Education in Krakow. At the IAC Milan 2024 Astronomical Congress and the EPS Forum Berlin 2024, we prepared stands presenting the educational work of the Institute of Physics with pixel detectors.

As part of lifelong learning, a two-day training of teachers was held in the accredited program of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports “Progressive detection methods in teaching subatomic and particle physics in primary and secondary schools. And for the University of the 3rd Age, we organized the courses Secrets of the Microworld and Laws of the Microworld.
